Kyiv, April 24, 2025 – The Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, in collaboration with the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine, has awarded Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Yuri Oleksandrovych Ushenko, an Honorary Certificate. This distinction recognizes his long-term dedicated work in the field of education, high level of professionalism, and significant contributions to the advancement of physical and mathematical sciences.
Yuri Ushenko, head of the Department of Computer Sciences at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, is a distinguished expert in optics, computer vision, data analysis, and pattern recognition. His scientific accomplishments are evidenced by numerous publications, cited over 5,500 times according to Google Scholar. As a graduate of the Correlation Optics Department at his alma mater, Professor Ushenko actively supports the training of highly qualified specialists, fosters the development of physical and mathematical sciences and technologies, and strengthens collaborative ties between higher education institutions and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The award ceremony coincided with the 150th anniversary of the founding of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, established in 1875 as the Franz Joseph University in Chernivtsi. This milestone underscores the vital role of scientists in preserving and advancing Ukrainian education and science, particularly amid contemporary challenges.
The Honorary Certificate was signed by NASU President Anatoliy Zahorodniy, Trade Union Chairman Heorhiy Trukhanov, and the Academy’s Vice-President.
