INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS/TEACHERS
2025
The Department of Computer Science at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University actively develops international cooperation and supports academic mobility for students and teachers. A striking example of such activity was the participation of the department’s student Dayana Turetska in the anniversary International Summer School “ECODAM — Evolutionary Computation in Optimization and Intelligent Data Analysis,” which took place from June 16 to 19, 2025, at the University of Iasi “A. I. Cuza” (Romania).
The delegation from Chernivtsi National University was led by Klavdiya Zenkov, professor at the Department of Printing, Multimedia, and Optical Technologies of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Physical, Technical, and Computer Sciences.
For Turkish student Dayana, who studies computer science, participating in the summer school was an important step in her professional and academic development. She had the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience with students and teachers from other universities, master new approaches to the application of evolutionary computing and machine learning methods to solve current problems in the field of computer science.
During the summer school, special attention was paid to sharing knowledge and experience between the Department of Computer Science at Chernivtsi National University, which specializes in research in the field of artificial intelligence systems, and scientists from the University of Iasi. This exchange facilitated the discussion of common approaches to the development of intelligent algorithms and laid the foundation for further international projects.
This international cooperation agreement was signed between Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University and Hubei University of Technology. The agreement was implemented on the initiative of the Department of Computer Science of the Institute of Physical, Technical and Computer Sciences of Chernivtsi National University and with the support of the Chinese partner.
The agreement aims to deepen academic ties in the field of computer science, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence, big data, software engineering, cloud technologies, and machine learning. It provides for the mutual exchange of students, graduate students, and teachers, participation in joint research projects, and the organization of international conferences and scientific schools. There are plans to introduce dual degree programs and joint supervision of research activities for higher education students.
Hubei University of Technology (HBUT) is a public university in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. It was founded in 1952 and is now one of the key regional universities with a technical profile. The main areas of study are engineering, technology, automation, bioengineering, and related sciences. The university has about 20 faculties, over 20,000 students, and a modern campus with developed infrastructure, including libraries, laboratories, sports facilities, and student dormitories. The university actively cooperates with other universities around the world, offering exchange programmes and double degrees. The campus is located in the Hongshan district of Wuhan, close to a metro station, making it convenient for students. The university is consistently ranked among the best in Hubei Province and is developing scientific activities in the field of applied technologies. English-language programmes and scholarships are available for international students.
2024
An agreement on international cooperation between Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University and Shaoxing University was signed thanks to the initiative of the Department of Computer Science of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Physics, Technology, and Computer Science (ESI PTCS) of Chernivtsi National University and with the support of the Chinese side. The main goal of the agreement is to expand cooperation in the field of computer science by combining the academic experience of both universities and developing innovative research approaches.
The cooperation includes short- and long-term academic exchanges of students and teachers, joint supervision of theses and research papers, and organization of joint research projects in the field of computer science, including artificial intelligence, data processing, software development, and cybersecurity. The parties also plan to hold joint summer schools, workshops, and conferences to improve the quality of education and scientific interaction.
Shaoxing University is a Chinese public institution of higher education located in Zhejiang Province. It has strong academic positions in the fields of engineering, information technology, economics, and humanities. The university actively develops international cooperation, supports student mobility, and establishes partnerships with leading universities around the world to implement innovative educational and scientific initiatives.
2023
Fifth-year students of the Department of Computer Science, Ulyana Koval and Diana Olar, participated in the annual international Summer School ” Evolutionary Computing in Optimization and Data Mining“, which took place on June 6-8, 2023, at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, Romania. The event is being organized for the fifteenth time by the Faculty of Computer Science at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi.
Doctoral students from Romania, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine who specialize in computer science, computer technology, and related fields (mathematics, physics, chemistry, economics) and conduct their own research in the field of optimization problems were also invited to the summer school. This year’s speakers were renowned scientists from the United States and Romania.
From February 6 to March 17, 2023, teachers of the Department of Computer Science – O.V. Galochkin and V.V. Dvorzhak – underwent advanced training (online internship) at the Krakow University of Economics (Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny w Krakowie).
The purpose of the advanced training (internship) was to improve professional training by deepening professional competencies and mastering new and innovative methods of teaching higher education students.
The internship program included topics that address issues of mobility in the European and Polish higher education systems, teacher training and development, new and innovative teaching methods, IT tools in professional presentations, the latest technologies in classes with students, and more.
The result of the certified internship is the mastery of new teaching methods and technologies, which will be implemented in the educational process at the Department of Computer Science.
Within the framework of domestic and international cooperation between scientists from the Department of Computer Science, our colleagues from Lviv Polytechnic National University, the International Center for Informatics and Computer Science at the National Technical University “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute,” and the International Research Organization for Modern Education and Computer Science (RAMECS), Hong Kong, scientific articles on topical issues – the application of intelligent geographic information systems, machine learning, and swarm intelligence in decision support systems – were published in the International Journal of Modern Education and Computer Science (IJMECS), Scopus Q2.

Іnternational Research Association of Modern Education and Computer Science (RAMECS) was founded in 2008. The RAMECS is an educational scientific and non-profit association. It provides a platform for teachers, engineers and scientists in academia, university and industry to present their latest research findings in areas of modern education, computer science and their applications. It promotes research, innovation, communication and education and conducts conferences and institutes scientific publications. Currently we especially encourage research topics on Educational Technology, Network Security, Communications, Trust Computing, Knowledge Management, Intelligent Systems, Biomedical Engineering, Internet Technology, Database Technology, Computational Sciences, Biocomputing, Data Science, Analytics, etc.
In accordance with the agreement, a representative office of Modern Education & Computer Science Press has been opened at Chernivtsi National University, the Educational and Scientific Institute of Physical, Technical, and Computer Sciences, and the Department of Computer Sciences with the aim of strengthening scientific cooperation between university researchers, simplify the mechanisms for publishing scientific research, educational, scientific, and informational literature in a number of technical and educational journals:

Organization of a series of online lectures for university students (November 3, 2021 – ongoing) in collaboration with Oleksandr Senyuk, a graduate of Chernivtsi National University who works on the development of cloud technologies as a Software Engineering Architect at Salesforce (Kirkland, Washington, USA) for computer science students and anyone interested in the topic “Project Management: Aiming for Success.” This series focuses on the development of software projects, from the smallest ones, completed in a few months with a team of several engineers, to large multi-year projects involving more than a hundred engineers.
Organization of a series of online lectures for university students (October 12, 2021 – October 28, 2021) “Fiat and Blockchain: a detailed comparison of all aspects and formulation of further tasks for the development of blockchain and cryptocurrencies” in collaboration with Serhii Hrabarchuk, developer and entrepreneur from Silicon Valley (www.unipuzzle.com, co-founder).

2019
Scientific internship of Dovgun A.Ya., Tomka Yu.Ya. and Kovalchuk M.L. at the University of Suceava “Stefan cel Mare” (Suceava, Romania) within the framework of participation during April 9-22, 2019. Order No. 224 of April 9, 2019.
Scientific cooperation with the University of Oulu, Finland. The result is the publication of four articles in international peer-reviewed journals included in the Scopus database: PloS ONE, Journal of Innovative and Health Sciences, Lasers in Medical Science, IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics.
A cooperation agreement was signed with Taizhou University, PRC, in October 2019. Under the agreement, it is planned to establish a joint laboratory and conduct joint scientific research in the field of biomedical optics, polarization mapping, Mueller matrix mapping, and autofluorescence methods for diagnosing the structure of biological tissues and fluids.

Evolutionary Computing in Optimization and Data Mining, ECODAM – 2017
From June 19 to 22, 2017, representatives of the Department of Computer Technology of the Institute of Physics, Technology, and Computer Sciences, within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement between Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University and A.I. Iasi University, participated in the annual international Summer School on Computer Science 2017 “Evolutionary Computing in Optimization and Data Collection.” Kuzia, participated in the annual international Summer School on Informatics 2017 “Evolutionary Computing in Optimization and Data Mining” (ECODAM – 2017) organized by the Faculty of Computer Science of the University of Iasi named after A.I. Kuzia.
In particular, the following assistants of the Department of Computer Systems Software presented their works to the international scientific community: 1) Gazdyuk K. P. – “Modeling amoeba-like motion using the method of moving cellular automata” 2) Yanushevsky S. V. – “Hash functions based on cellular automata,” assistants of the Department of Computer Science: Talakh M. V. – “Information technology for intelligent environmental monitoring,” Dovgun A. Ya. – “Optimization of the characteristics of transient processes of stochastic automatic control systems” and assistant of the Department of Computer Systems and Networks Odaiska K. S. – “Determination of the level of Gaussian noise in digital images using low-frequency and high-frequency filtering.”
The conference participants heard presentations from renowned computer scientists, representatives of the United States, Vice President of the University of Massachusetts, Professor Schuyler Korban (University of Massachusetts Boston, USA), Professors Dan Simovici (University of Massachusetts Boston, USA) and Kenneth De Jong (George Mason University, USA), and a representative of the software development company Quantarium Cristian Ilac (Seattle, Washington, USA). On behalf of the Romanian scientific community, Professors Daniela Zaharie (West University, Timișoara, Romania) and Camelia Shira (Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania) were invited as guest lecturers.
After the completion of the Summer School program, representatives of the Department of Computer Technology received certificates of participation in the ECODAM – 2017 Summer School.
As part of the program for the continuous development of information and business technologies in Tbilisi, Georgia, under the Tempus EANET program (May 15-17, 2017), the concept of creating a favorable ecosystem for the sustainable development of IT and business technologies in Ukraine and European countries was presented and discussed. In particular, the concepts of creating high-tech startups in technical and business fields were discussed. Our university presented developments that combine the use of information technologies for natural sciences and business applications. In particular, KM Trade and its director Serhii Levenets, who significantly contribute to the implementation of the latest information technologies in business and, accordingly, require highly qualified computer analysts, emphasized the need to train a new generation of personnel who would be able to combine the qualities of a manager and a programmer. Very useful discussions took place with representatives of universities and businesses from Germany, the Netherlands, and Romania.
A joint team of teachers and students from the departments of computer science, correlation optics, and optics and publishing and printing was invited by the International Center for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy, to participate in an international internship on the application of the latest information technologies (February 13-24, 2017). During their stay, they visited the Elettra synchrotron, where specialists from around the world process data obtained on the structure of matter.
At the school for continuous development of information technologies in Berlin, Germany, under the Tempus EANET program (January 22-27, 2017), the concept of stable development of IT technologies in Ukraine and employment opportunities for students abroad were presented and discussed.
At a workshop on modern methods of software-based intellectual processing of medical images in Paris (Paleseau), France (November 14-16, 2016), an agreement was signed with the Polytechnic University on cooperation and possible student exchange. The Department of Computer Science presented a report on the latest methods of medical image processing.
The Department of Computer Science has extensive international connections, which allows students and staff to receive consultations and travel to many countries in Europe and around the world for study or internships, using funding from the host party or international programs such as Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, and Erasmus+. These programs allow students to obtain an international diploma in parallel with a state diploma.
In particular, agreements on student exchange and cooperation in the scientific field have been signed with universities in Poland, Romania, Moldova, Germany, the Netherlands, France, and Italy.
A recent agreement was signed with the University of Oulu, Finland, on student exchange programs with the possibility of accommodation and study. At the invitation of the Finnish university (April 17-22, 2016), a lecture was given on the current state of intellectual data analysis in computer information systems.
