Thanks to the professionalism of the teachers of the Department of Intelligent Data Analysis in Computer Information Systems of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical, Technical and Computer Sciences, and the ability not only to teach but also to involve me in the programming process, I began to develop very quickly in the IT field. After completing my internship at the university, I got a job at an IT company in Chernivtsi. I skilfully combined work and study during the 4th year of my bachelor’s degree, and despite the workload, I received a diploma with honours and defended my thesis with dignity and excellent marks.u003cbru003eNow I work at the Swedish company Greenely as a Python developer. Greenely is an electricity company that optimises users’ electricity usage using smart technologies in the app: it gives full control, analyses the behaviour of each user directly and optimises consumption using smart algorithms. I used a lot of the knowledge I gained at university: from OOP to the basics of machine learning.

The department offers quality education that allows students to develop in a wide range of IT areas: 3D, C++, C#, Java, Python, data analysis, web design, SCRUM, design patterns, and artificial intelligence. Individualized training and cooperation with IT companies in Ukraine make it possible to find a dream job quickly and combine it with your studies. The department actively monitors the labor market, technologies, and needs of the modern IT sector, gives students the opportunity to get acquainted with real projects and technologies, and develop their practical skills. It is creative in its presentation of the material. In the second year, we had the opportunity to attend specially organized courses at SoftServe, one of the largest companies in Ukraine, where I started working in my second year.u003cbru003eThe friendly atmosphere, beautiful and well-equipped building and excellent organization of the department’s work provide students with a sense of comfort and support. Especially useful is the role of tutors, who do their job conscientiously and act as support in learning and communication with other teachers. I know many cases in other universities where the supervisor is only “for show”, which is unacceptable at the Computer Science Department of the Chernivtsi National University.u003cbru003eThe knowledge base I have gained allows me to keep abreast of all important areas in the IT field. This knowledge is useful both in work and when discussing something interesting in the kitchen with colleagues over a cup of coffee.

They spendan incredible amount of time and effort in order to help the student improve in the field that he likes. The way of communication, involvement in science and approaches to students is a unique set of tools that they possess. I am infinitely grateful that I had the opportunity to study and improve here. The research focus of the department lies in the core areas of computer science as well as in machine learning, media informatics and software development. Students of Computer Science department benefit from the diverse research environment within and outside the university.The focus on machine learning is currently being rapidly expanded.u003cbru003eThe study of computer science in Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University is correspondingly versatile and at the pulse of time. 3 respect for the Department of Computer Science, I believe that it is one of the most interesting and practical departments at my university. During my studies, it was valuable for me that we had the opportunity to get not only theory, but also practice directly on real projects of our university partners, having taken preparatory courses there. Practical skills play an important role in preparing us for the real challenges and tasks that we will face later in our careers. And the Department of Computer Science pays a lot of attention to acquiring these skills. u003cbru003eWe had the opportunity to participate in practical projects and teamwork, where we explored new technologies and methods of software development. We had great modern teachers who have deep knowledge in their field and are able to transfer this knowledge to students in an effective and interesting way. In general, the Department of Computer Science is a great place for those who are interested in information technology and want to get excellent knowledge and really practical skills in IT.

Since 2019, I have been studying at the Department of Computer Science, majoring in Data Mining in Computer Information Systems. Although the specialty of the department is called “Data Mining”, during my 4 years of studying here I have been familiarized with many areas of the IT industry. Therefore, I consider one of the biggest advantages of the department to be the opportunity to try myself in different directions. So during my studies here, I had the opportunity to cover such areas as: programming various algorithms, graphic design, database management systems, developing my own applications in modern programming languages, creating neural networks and data analysis in computer systems. And this is not a complete list of skills that can be acquired during the entire training period. One of the positive aspects of the department’s work is cooperation with various international IT companies. Thus, students have the opportunity to conduct internships in top IT companies

One of the significant advantages of studying for me is the relevance and practical value of the knowledge gained. During the course of our studies, we mastered important, relevant and modern technologies. The knowledge I have gained is useful to me every day when performing work tasks. Another significant advantage of studying at the Department of Computer Science for me is practical assignments, thanks to which I gained knowledge of software development processes, database design, and gained practical experience in developing applications based on various architectures, including microservice and multi-layer.
