Students of the Department of Computer Science attended the event ‘From Student to Junior’

On 24 September 2025, students of the Department of Computer Science at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, who are studying under the educational programme ‘Intelligent Data Analysis in Computer Information Systems’, attended the event ‘From Student to Junior’, organised by the Chernivtsi IT Cluster. The event took place in the Shevchenko Hall of the university and brought together both students and representatives of leading IT companies, who shared their own experiences and practical advice for those who are just preparing to take their first steps in their professional careers. The atmosphere of the event combined the formality of solemn speeches with the dynamics of real communication between students and employers.

The event programme was rich and diverse. Students had the opportunity to listen to a panel discussion with representatives of IT companies and government agencies, where they discussed current challenges and prospects for the development of the digital sphere. Particular attention was paid to how young people can integrate into the fast-paced IT market and what employers expect from future specialists. Such meetings allow students to better understand labour market trends and get a feel for the real context in which they will soon be working.

The success story of a Chernivtsi National University graduate, who, while still a student, was able to find employment and start his career at a well-known company, was extremely motivating. This example demonstrated that the knowledge gained at university, combined with perseverance and the right use of opportunities, opens doors to the professional world even without many years of experience. For our students, this was confirmation that the path from the lecture hall to their first job is entirely realistic and achievable.

An equally important part of the programme was a presentation by the head of the HR department on preparing a LinkedIn profile and creating a competitive CV. This section was particularly useful for students of our department, as the correct presentation of their skills and projects online is key to attracting the attention of recruiters. The advice given will help applicants systematise their achievements, present them competently and thus increase their chances of a successful start to their career.

Participation in the ‘From Student to Junior’ event was an important step for the future professional development of our department’s students. They not only gained useful knowledge and practical advice, but also a boost of motivation, realising that a career in information technology is open to anyone who is willing to work on themselves. Such initiatives by the Chernivtsi IT Cluster contribute to the formation of a strong link between the university and business, creating conditions for Chernivtsi National University graduates to confidently enter the labour market and become competitive specialists.
